"And We had certainly given Luqman wisdom [and said], "Be grateful to Allah ." And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever denies [His favor] - then indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy." Luqman 31:12
The first thing Allah mentions in relation to wisdom is gratefulness. And so it would not be too far fetched to say that the essence of wisdom is gratefulness, especially to the Creator for all His favours upon us.
Today is a gift as Master Oogway tells us, and that is why it is called 'the present'. And the ONLY appropriate response upon receiving a gift, is gratefulness, as the man in this video very wisely points out.
May Allah grant us wisdom, so we may be thankful for His Favours and as a result receive much good in this world and the Hereafter. For Allah says:
"He grants hikmah(wisdom) to whom He pleases, and he, to whom hikmah (wisdom) is granted, is indeed granted abundant good. But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding." al-Baqarah 2: 269
